Bridging the Gap: How D&DCPD Human Resources Consulting Expands Access to Justice

Access to justice has always been close to my heart. Long before I founded D&DCPD Human Resources Consulting, I practiced as a criminal defence lawyer. I saw firsthand the very real consequences people face when they don't have someone to advocate for them — especially those who simply couldn’t afford legal representation. I carried that perspective with me as I transitioned into the world of Labour and Employment law. And the issue persisted.
In my time practicing employment law, I encountered another justice gap — this time among both employees and small to medium-sized businesses. Employees often struggle to find affordable support when they face workplace issues that don't quite rise to the level of needing a lawyer, but still desperately require guidance. On the other side, smaller employers want to do the right thing, but don't know where to start and fear the financial burden of professional HR support.
This is exactly why I created D&DCPD Human Resources Consulting — to offer practical, affordable, and strategic HR and employment law guidance that bridges that gap.
Supporting Employees Who Might Otherwise Go Without Help
Employees may feel intimidated by legal systems, unsure whether they have a case, or unable to pay the high costs associated with legal advice. But just because a situation isn’t “actionable” in a court or tribunal or may not yield a payout sufficient justify the costs of litigation doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter. Employees deserve answers, advocacy, and someone in their corner. Through D&DCPD, I provide that — whether it's reviewing employment contracts, navigating workplace conflicts, or understanding rights and entitlements.
Because we operate virtually and maintain low overhead, I can offer professional, individualized support at a much lower cost than traditional legal services. This allows me to help people who may not otherwise have a venue to turn to.
Helping Businesses Stay Ahead of Legal Trouble — Affordably
For small and medium-sized businesses, the stakes are high and the resources are often limited. Many business owners want to be compliant and create a fair and legally sound workplace, but HR issues and employment law complexities can be overwhelming — and expensive.
Rather than waiting for a legal issue to arise, my firm partners with employers proactively to:
Ensure compliance with employment standards
Create strong and fair workplace policies
Draft and review employment contracts
Address performance, discipline, and termination matters with confidence
Because my firm is virtual, I can keep costs reasonable — meaning business owners don’t have to sacrifice quality support just to stay within budget. I help you make the changes before they become legal problems.
Committed to Practical Solutions and Real Advocacy
D&DCPD isn’t just about paperwork and compliance. It’s about giving people access to guidance, support, and real, actionable strategies — regardless of whether they’re an employee in need of advocacy or an employer striving to do the right thing.
Access to justice isn’t just about the courtroom. It’s about ensuring people can make informed decisions, resolve issues, and move forward with confidence. That’s what I aim to do every day.
